Utah Jazz forward Bojan Bogdanovic said he will be joining the Croatian national team in the upcoming Olympic Qualifiers. Croatia is hosting one of the qualifying tournaments in Split, aiming to make its second straight Olympic Games.
“I’ll take part in the national team, so I’ll head right to training in 7 or 8 days,” Bogdanovic said during his season exit interview, per Eric Walden of the Salt Lake Tribune. Bogdanovic and the Jazz were eliminated 2-4 by the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference semifinals after beginning the series up 2-0.
Croatia will facing Brazil (coached by Croatian great Aco Petrovic) and Tunisia in Group B of the tournament while Germany, Russia and Mexico compete in Group A. The tournament winner will make the Olympics.
Bogdanovic, who had a playoff career-highs 18.1 points plus 4.3 rebounds in the NBA postseason, was the leading scorer in the 2016 Olympic Games with 25.3 points.
